Product Details- Counter Balanced Drawbridge Levellers offer higher capacities than Hinged Bridgeplates, and are available in various widths and lengths with capacities of either 4000kg or 6000kg.
- This product is ideal for fitting to existing docks, as it eliminates the need for any structural work. The Dock Leveller is welded and anchored to a built-in steel channel, 150mm deep, which must exist on the edge of the dock. If this does not exist you will require a steel goalpost structure which we can manufacture for you (see below)
- When not in use the leveller is stored and locked in the vertical position, which has added safety benefits for those working on the dock.
- To operate the leveller, the foot lock is released and the leveller can then be lowered into the vehicle, using the handle provided, (see fig 2 & 3).
- Strong springs under the leveller make operation easy, as the springs counterbalance the leveller during operation.
- Height differences between the vehicle and dock are self-compensating.
- Safety side curbs are fitted as standard.
- Also available as part of a ramp combination to reach higher vehicles, and for a non-permenant fixture. Click for details.
- Durbar treadplate decking as standard; anti-slip paint finish recommended for outside applications.
Steel Goalpost & Protective Bumper Supports
- Many existing loading docks, particularly concrete ones, don't have a steel channel cast into the dock edge to accept a drawbridge dock leveller. This can be overcome by installing a Thorworld steel goalpost, a top plate overlaps onto the top of the dock to allow the leveller to be secured.
- The goalpost is secured to the front face of the dock, (see fig. 5), or as required.
- The top plate is secured to the upper surface of the dock and welded to the goalpost.
- Maximum strength is achieved by the combination of the goalpost and top plate. The leveller is then fitted to the steel goalpost
- Loading docks with a cut-out under a top protruding lip can also be accommodated by this method.
- Since the leveller will protrude from the dock edge by some 350mm, Thorworld engineers strongly recommend that steel dock bumper supports are fitted in conjunction with a Steel Goalpost, in order to eliminate damage when vehicles are reversing up to the dock, (see fig. 5 with the leveller in the parked position).
Handrails
- All counterbalanced levellers are fitted as standard with curbs to prevent vehicles falling off the sides, however in situations where the leveller is to take pedestrian traffic, we strongly recommend the addition of handrails.
- Available as a standard fixed version, or a fold down version where there is limited space behind the leveller when in the upright position i.e. a loading bay with doors.
